Together with Rom Harré and many others I have been involved in developing positioning theory as a framework to analyse social interaction from a dynamic and social constructionist point of view. Governance is no longer an exclusive competence of states. Regions are increasingly important loci of governance as well. Regions exist within, across and above states and pose interesting challenges to social sciences' research.
